Freedom In Christ
On a ‘Freedom in Christ’ course, blockages that many people have in their lives like unforgiveness, or a problem from the past resurfacing, are gently dealt with through good teaching. Its pattern is very like Alpha with a series of evenings where participants go through a book, and follow recorded talks on a DVD. It is a course specifically designed to help every Christian take hold of the truth of who they are in Christ, and to resolve spiritual conflicts and move on to maturity.
Here’s what I wrote about a previous Freedom In Course we ran:-
“On this course, we have learnt afresh about the truths of who God is, and how he sees us. So easily we pick up messages about our identity based on what people have said to us. What this course does is simply help us to know in our minds what is true and what is untrue.”
Previous participants from around the UK have said:-
“My life has been transformed. It truly was like walking from darkness back into light again”. And another spoke of “Knowing who I am in Christ and accepting the truth of God while rejecting the lies of the devil has changed my life”
My own perspective as a Vicar is how the people coming on this course have, including me, been able to grasp basic truths that have been taught before but perhaps somehow never fully taken on board. Many of us are children of the 80’s (or 60’s and 70’s) and lifestyles we adopted then still cause problems in our Christian lives today. What this course does is really help everyone to get an ‘M.O.T’ for their whole walk with God.
Based on the best selling books by Neil Anderson, ‘Victory over the Darkness’, and the ‘Bondage Breaker’ the course has been fully rewritten for a UK audience. In fact they have done such a good job that the Americans are now asking for the UK version! It is simply a tool that has enabled many Christians to find new freedom in their lives.
