All Saints Peoples Puppets
(Stage name: Puppets Alive)
Lights, sound, music, action! Using large and medium style puppets with black-curtain staging is great fun, but very hard work!
Formed in 2009 All Saints Peoples Puppets is a puppet team based in West Swindon and open to children aged 8 and over and adults who are prepared to have a CRB check.
The aim of this puppet team is to have a lot of fun doing puppet training every fortnight, and once we are up to strength go out to schools, elderly peoples homes etc and put on quality puppet productions.
We meet at All Saints Church, Lydiard Millicent every 2nd and 4th Sunday at 9.00am. Some Sundays we help with Messy Church at Holy Trinity Shaw. Check the Church Newsletter for details.
We have already helped put on a puppet workshop for children with Special educational needs, as well as a couple of productions within church services.
We received a very generous grant from Swindon Borough Council’s Grassroots scheme. This was given on the basis that we would go out to schools and Colleges and put on suitable productions for these settings.
We also received a grant from a Christian foundation and so we also help with Church services as requested.
We have a steering group of 4 people: Julian Wright, Lesley Green, Simon Belcher and Tudor Roberts.
The puppet team itself is growing and we have children, teens and adult members. We make a very small charge for joining and each week you come to Puppetry Practice.
