Intercessions 12th July 2020

‘How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!’

We praise You Heavenly Father that we are Your children, and that You have called us into Your kingdom, to bear much fruit for You. May the seed of Your word grow and flourish in our lives, as we abide in You and You in us. We thank You that there is now no condemnation for us in Christ Jesus, for we have been set free from the punishment of sin, the power of sin and one glorious day we will be free from the presence of sin. Thank You that ….

Your word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

We thank You Father, that through Jesus Christ. ‘we have hope as an anchor for the soul’. In these times of great uncertainty and anxiety, when many are mourning loved ones, others have lost their means of livelihood, when old familiar ways of living may be gone forever, and where the new normal is as yet unknown, may we overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. As Peter urges us ‘let us always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks us, to give the reason for the hope that we have’ for ….

Your word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

Gracious Father, we pray for all children, and those helping them through these times.

Refresh and support all teachers and assistants, who are facing so many new challenges. Multiply the results of all their efforts, and bless them this summer with rest and renewal.

Encourage those working in nurseries, and play groups as they care for ones so young and vulnerable.

Strengthen parents who have been home schooling for many months.

We pray for all the children whose education has been disrupted, and ask that they will not feel excess pressure or anxiety when they return to school.

Father, help those on the autistic spectrum, as they cope with intense communication, sensory and anxiety issues, and may all who are suffering from mental health issues, be given all the support they need.

Protect and surround all children who are subject to any kind of abuse.

Lord, ‘You took the children in Your arms and blessed them’, help us to do the same for….

Your word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

Merciful Father, we pray for our mission partners in Brazil, Daniel and Sarah, and their family. Keep them safe and bless their important ministry to street children. Encourage the Sibthorpe family in Northern Australia serving with MAF, and use them for Your glory. We cry out to You Lord for our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world, who are suffering from increased poverty and hunger due to Covid-19. Make a way for Open Doors, Barnabas Fund, and other Christians in these countries to get food and aid to them. May we stand with them in prayer and support. Thank You that You are faithful to Your promise ‘to give them their food at the proper time’…

Your word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

Gracious Lord, we pray for our nation. Give wisdom to our Government ministers, and cause them to serve with integrity and honour through these difficult times.

Be a refuge and strength to our Queen, and thank You for her faith.

Empower Your church across our nation, with a fresh outpouring of Your Holy Spirit, that Your righteousness, peace and joy will be seen and Your Name lifted high, drawing many into Your kingdom, through Your powerful word of truth and grace, for …

Your word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

Loving Lord, we pray for our church. Thank You for our leaders who serve You and us faithfully. Help and encourage them as they lead us forward through these ever-changing times, whilst holding to Government guidelines. May we be a blessing to them.

Pour your healing love over those who are suffering, in body, mind or spirit, strengthen and sustain them, and their faithful carers.

Soothe the aching hearts of those who have been bereaved, and be a comforting presence to all who live alone.

May Your provision and peace be with those who have lost livelihoods, and are struggling financially, fearful of the future.

Bless Swindon Food Collective and all who help and volunteer.

Father, You teach us in Your word to care for, pray for, encourage, love and provide for one another.

May we have open ears and eyes to the needs and suffering around us in our church family and beyond, and may we as James says ‘be doers of Your word, not hearers only’ for…

Your word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

Jesus, You are the light of the world,

A light that no darkness can quench.

Upon Your church

Wrestling with the darkness of sin and evil,

Battling against doubt and unbelief,

Let Your light shine.

Upon world governments

Facing gloom and despair

Fighting disaster and destruction

Let Your light shine.

Upon those that live in the shadows

Trapped in sorrow and pain

Struggling against oppression

Let Your light shine.

For Your word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

                                                                                                                Amen KLR
